Management

Community Involvement and Improvement Foundation Corp. is managed by a board of directors appointed by the founder/president.

CIIFC also seeks volunteers or paid-for services as needed to successfully carry out its activities.

Visits to Cameroon are scheduled to ensure activities are carried out as expected.

Measures are also being taken to make sure aid given by the foundation reaches its destination and is used for the porpouses designated.

Areas of Activities

Community Involvement and Improvement Foundation Corp seeks to initiate and support projects to address the basic needs of the Cameroonian people.

It will combine resources at home and abroad to improve the quality of life be it in the field of health, education, community development, especially in the rural areas.

CIIFC looks to attract projects for building community places, classroom, health centers, water foundations etc.

CIIFC also looks forward to supporting activities i.e. concerned group or community contributing manual labor and raw materials such as stones or sand so they can feel proud that they were part of changing their own lives.

Selection of Projects

Selection of the project will be based on the practicality and whether or not it will address the basic needs of a given group or community. Other activities CIIFC may see to supporting are:

  • Activities geared towards the emancipation of women.
  • Activities intended to help HIV/AIDS patients.
  • Moral instruction programs for delinquent children.
  • Giving aid to leprosy centers, homes for the elderly, centers for the blind and others.
  • Programs initiating educational exchange between schools in Cameroon and those in the United States.
  • Joining the fight against the spread of the Sahara desert.

Our Members

David Puwol

President/Founder

The founder and president of CIIFC, David M. Puwol was born in Cameroon, West Africa on November 13th, 1958. After completing an equivalence of two years college studies with very limited means, he was employed to work for the US Embassy in Cameroon. During his twenty one years of working for the U.S. Embassy, David received numerous training in property management, accounting and cashiering overseas. With all these achievements coupled with recommendations, promotions and awards Mr. Puwol in the end got immigrant status approved by the then US Secretary of State. David, his wife, sister-in-law and three children moved over to the United States in June 2001. They presently are US citizens and reside in Sunrise, Florida. While in the States Mr. Puwol did some studies in Human Resource management, presently works for a pharmaceutical company and is a Florida State Notary Public. He is also a volunteer to a cooperative feeding program where he helps with the distribution of food to the needy.

Vivian Powtakien

Vice President

Vivian was born in Cameroon, West Africa. Vivian attended Broward College, where she graduated, with honors, with an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing in 2007 and an Associate in Arts degree in Nursing. Vivian worked at a level I trauma center in Broward county Florida for over eight years. During that time, she gained experience in medical/surgical/telemetry/hospice care/charge nurse/preceptor/ER with crossed trained in trauma. In 2010 she graduated with a bachelor's in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University with honors. Vivian later acquired her Master's degree in Nursing and practiced as a Nurse Practitioner.

When asked if she could serve on the CIIFC board, Vivian's answer was..."It is an honor." Her future contributions to CIIFC cannot be underestimated. She noted, "There is nothing more rewarding than giving back to society and those in need of help. With my experience in health care, I hope to incorporate that into the CIIFC organization humbly."

Gayle Rochford

Financial Officer

Gayle Rochford resides in Florida for the last 17 years and have been Self Employed in The Accounting/ Business field for more than 30 years. Gayle migrated first to Canada from her home in Trinidad and Tobago 40 years ago and worked in the Accounting Field since then. Over the last 3 decades Gayle has been in control of various aspects of Financial and Administration Operations of Small Businesses/Profit & Non Profit Organizations including Payroll, Human Resources, Business Planning, Budgets,Cash Flow and Daily Operations of business.
Gayle is also a Senior Tax Advisor for Personal and Business Returns. She is a Certified Notary Public in the State of Florida. She prepares all the Financial Statements for CIIFC since its inception and works behind the scenes with the planning of all the Fund Raising Events.

Robert Chin

Board Member

Robert was born on 19th August 1968 in Cameroon. He completed an equivalence of two years college in a Government Technical School in Cameroon and obtained an Advance level certificate in Civil engineering (BACC F4) 1989. Robert is Senior Civil Engineering Technician with fifteen years of work experience and the last seven years having the responsibility of facilities maintenance Supervisor to 21 Technicians at the US Embassy, Cameroon. Robert attended the following workshops organized by the United States Department: Information Technology in August 2003 Yaounde - Cameroon; Supervisory workshop in April 2005 Dakar - Senegal; Computer Applications July - December 2006 Yaounde - Cameroon and Customer Service 2007 Yaounde - Cameroon. In addition to receiving many step increases, cash, extra mile and Franklin's awards, Mr. Chin was a recipient of the Ambassador's Foreign Service Employee Honor Award of the year 2006. His main responsibility is giving technical support to project development and evaluation. He is Married with three children.

Enoch Tanyi

Officer

Enoch was born on 25th August 1954 in Cameroon. He holds a B.Sc. in Agronomy and a Master degree in Forest Resources Management, specializing in Silviculture and Forest Biology. He has attended training courses in Maseno, Kenya,on Multi-purpose Tree Improvement and Management, in Ibadan, Nigeria, in Genebank Management, and in Nairobi, Kenya on Tree Domestication for Agroforestry. Enoch has taught Agricultural Science and Biology at secondary school level, and has been a Demonstrator in Crop Production at the Kwame Nkruma University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He has worked as Research Assistant and Research Associate at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, in both Nigeria and Cameroon,the International Center for Research in Agroforestry, ICRAF, now known as the world Agroforestry Center, in Cameroon. Mr. Tanyi is author and co-author of a few scientific papers. His main responsibility is serving as the primary contact person in Cameroon and overseeing CIIFC activities at countrywide.

Chrsitopher Ngum

Treasurer

Christopher was born on October 10th, 1968 in Cameroon. After completing his elementary education, he entered into a technical and commercial school where he read accounting and obtained a Baccalaureate certificate in 1990. He then proceeded to Yaounde University were he graduated with a Bsc in Management.

Christopher has taught accounting, statistics and business mathematics at the secondary school level. When he left teaching he briefly worked in a coffee cooperative as an administrative clerk. Later on he gained an accounting job with a company in Douala where he worked for 4 years. He is presently working in the budget office at the American Embassy Yaounde as a Senior Voucher Examiner.

Christopher has attended several courses organized by the State Department in Paris - France, Dakar - Senegal, Pretoria and Cape Town - South Africa.

His main responsibility is maintaining the financial records of CIIFC and submitting reports as necessary. He is married with three children.

Susan Sprague

Public Relations Officer

I have been in the Real Estate business for 27 years serving past and present clients to help them Sell and Buy homes. This is my passion, I live to serve others.
I feel I am a kind, compassionate, personable and loving person. One of my other compassions is to organize, plan and execute parties and events.

Amshetu Melo Forchu Nkemleke

Board Member

Amshetu is a teacher and an examiner of the Cameroon General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination with a 16-year working experience. She currently works in the office in charge of secondary school pedagogy for the Yaoundé district area in the Republic of Cameroon. She holds a professional teaching diploma in Economics from the Higher Teacher Training College of the University of Yaoundé 1(1998), a postgraduate degree in Economics from the University of Yaoundé 2 (2003), and an MA degree in Education from the University of Yaounde1 (2014). She is a member of the Continental Pioneering Committee of the Baha’i Faith for Africa, and a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Yaoundé 6-Cameroon. She does a series of community-building work, involving children classes and pre-youth activities. Amshetu is married with five children ages 16, 13, 7, 5 and 3.

Dr. Denise Rattigan

Consultant

As an author and veteran speaker, Dr. Denise Rattigan’s dynamic style and unusually strong impact reaches audiences. For more than 35 years, she has dedicated her life to educating others, from children to parents to teachers. Presently, Dr. Rattigan is a retired special education teacher and also owns and manages an educational consulting business, deniserattigan.com. In addition to educating children, she has been teaching classes at Carthage College and the University of Phoenix. Dr. Rattigan has designed many courses on subjects such as Conflict Resolution, Attention Deficit Disorder, Inclusion, and Cooperative Classrooms. She has written six handbooks: Teaching Reading to the LD Child; Conflict Resolution; Dealing with the ADD/ADHD Child; Inclusion-Making Alphabet Soup; Literacy Learning Stations for the Struggling Reader, and a compilation of cooperative classroom lesson plans. As an international speaker, she has presented at various conferences and workshops around the world. She also received an award as Teacher of the Year from Carthage college. Dr. Rattigan earned her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in adult learning at George Williams College--Aurora University, received her Master’s degree in Education specializing in instructional technology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and she graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a Bachelor’s Degree in special education.
